Our client’s semi-detached house resides off a busy residential street in Dorking with a large garden overlooking Box Hill. The clients have only recently purchased the property and whilst they love it they have identified several key issues which will need to be resolved especially now that they have a young child. These issues include a small kitchen which is unsuitable for a young, growing family. They have a single upstairs bathroom for all to share which is inconvenient when they have visiting relatives. Additionally, there is limited natural light into the lounge. The main purpose of the new side and rear extension is to provide sensible solutions to these inherited issues within the property without jeopardising the view to the countryside, especially from the first floor and from the lounge.

The new extension will open up the kitchen space as the wall between the kitchen and living room is being demolished. A new sunroom will be created to the side. Access will be from the living room with the existing double doors taken out to leave a large opening to that new sunroom. This will be a fantastic space to enjoy the views of Box Hill with sliding doors providing further access to the garden and windows around the perimeter with two skylights providing the natural light that is so important. Our visuals illustrate how this will look upon completion.

This project will be starting sometime early in 2012.
