Woodcote Grove Road secures planning

Macdonald Design are delighted to announce that, following an arduous 3 year battle with the local authority in Croydon, the new house at Woodcote Grove Road secures planning approval. Macdonald Design, working with our partners Kevin Scott Associates, have worked extensively on designs and consulted with the council to achieve a scheme that pleased all parties. The final four bedroomed approved scheme, including a loft extension, incorporates an extended dining and kitchen space to the rear ground floor opening out onto an expansive garden. The clients on this project proclaimed their joy at the news and praised the entire project team for their patience and continued determination.

Macdonald Design were approached by our clients in 2011 to look at viable options for a back garden development. The plot is formed by the rear gardens of no’s 60 and 62 Woodcote Road but faces directly onto The Wend, a residential street which forms the southern boundary of the no 60. A scheme for a five-bedroom detached house was initially submitted to planning following detailed consultation between the local authority and our planning associate Kevin Scott. However, the initial application was withdrawn following some reservations from the planning officer about mass bulking and an urgent redesign was undertaken.

Although the redesign appeared to meet the comments of the planning officer, the design was turned down once again with just days left until an official decision was to be made. The project team underwent this process another two times and unsurprisingly questioned whether it was worth persevering with. However, a final attempt to secure approval was undertaken and this application was deemed successful in mid-October.

The visual above gives an artistic impression of how the new house will look upon completion. Work is due to start in the spring of 2014 with a handover date planned for later in that year. For all property enquiries please contact Macdonald Design by email : enquiries@macdonalddesign.co.uk.
